Walter Parker was born and bred in Yorkshire. The budding artist was brought up in the early 1930s and spent his childhood, which was during the wartime, in the Roundhay district of Leeds and as a child Walter could always be found sketching and painting local subjects.

Walter studied at the Leeds College of Art and later he became apprenticed to the late Sam Chadwick, training as a commercial artist. Sam Chadwick became famous as a Yorkshire Dales watercolour artist. Walter spent many years as a highly successful commercial artist working on numerous high profile business accounts including Coca Cola, KP Nuts, and Freedom for Food campaigns to name but a few.

Today Walter can be found working from his studio in the picturesque North Yorkshire village of Patrick Brompton. He was recently featued on the BBC Luke Casey Dales Diary after illustrating the "Pools of gold" book of poetry by John Watson.
